    1. What is Clearly Kombucha?

Clearly Kombucha is filtered, light-tasting, authentic kombucha. Think of it as kombucha 2.0 – approachable booch for everyone.

    2. What exactly is kombucha?

Kombucha is a sparkling fermented tea beverage made by brewing tea and sugar with a SCOBY (symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast), which creates the magic (science) that produces an amazing cornucopia of healthy probiotics, active enzymes, organic acids, and detoxifiers that may aid in the regulation and performance of the digestive system. Equally as important, it’s a healthy beverage, full of distinct flavor, that can replace a sugary soda or sports drink. Kombucha has been consumed for at least two thousand years as a wellness beverage (though they didn’t all use that term) and was known as "The Tea of Immortality".

    3. How is Clearly Kombucha different?

Unlike other kombuchas on the market, our booch doesn’t contain a vinegary flavor like typical kombucha. It’s light, refreshing flavor appeals to everyone who likes a complex tasting beverage without huge numbers of calories, sugars, and carbs. It’s clear because we think that leaving the dead yeast in the bottle is unappetizing. It’s still real, raw kombucha, and cold filtered for clarity. That dead yeast has little to no nutritional value, so get it outta here. No gunk, no problem.

    6. Why doesn’t Clearly Kombucha have the kombucha vinegar taste?

We use a proprietary brewing process that produces kombucha with a well-rounded profile of organic acids, and less acetic acid, which gives most kombuchas that vinegar flavor. Since we don’t have that sharp vinegar taste, we don’t have to balance (mask) it with sugar, like most other brands. That means the authentic kombucha flavor shines through, and Most CK flavors contain half the sugar, calories, and carbs of most other major brand in the US market.

    7. What are the ingredients in Clearly Kombucha?

Our kombucha is brewed with whole-leaf, organic green tea, organic ginger, and cane sugar. It is a certified organic beverage, with all ingredients, including flavors, certified organic compliant. It does not contain any preservatives or artificial flavors.

    8. Does Kombucha contain sugar?

Kombucha requires sugar to begin the fermentation process but after the fermentation is complete, there is no sugar remaining. It has all been eaten by the live culture. The fruit flavors add the few grams of sugar to the beverage. Clearly Kombucha has the lowest level of sugar of any major kombucha. We can add less sugar because CK is not brewed with a strong vinegar flavor that needs to be covered up.

    9. Does Clearly Kombucha use artificial sweetener?

    No.

    10. Is Clearly Kombucha caffeinated?

A bottle of Clearly Kombucha has about as much caffeine as a cup of decaf coffee. The caffeine from the tea breaks down during the fermentation process.

    16. Why is kombucha called mushroom tea?

Although sometimes referred to as mushroom tea, kombucha got this clever nickname because the SCOBY looks like a mushroom cap when it is happily floating around in the kombucha. However, Kombucha contains no mushroom.

    17. Is kombucha alcoholic?

Clearly Kombucha contains less than 0.5% (half a percent) alcohol, which is the traditional level a beverage is called non-alcoholic. The very small amount of alcohol is naturally produced by the fermentation, as a biproduct of the SCOBY having a party in the tank, also creating all of the great, and great-for-you, organic acids, micronutrients, and probiotics. If you have concerns about consuming these trace amounts of alcohol, consult your doctor

    18. Has there ever been a kombucha recall?

Not for Clearly Kombucha. In 2010 some other brands of kombucha were recalled due to higher-than-claimed alcohol levels (created by fermentation continuing in the bottle). We’ve never had this problem because our authentic fermentation process doesn’t produce alcohol above half a percent, and we filter the yeast, so fermentation does not continue inside the bottle.

    19. Can you drink the stuff floating in kombucha?

Yes you can! The floaties and gunk are dead yeast sediment. However, it has little to no nutritional or health value. So we remove it, for a happier, better looking, less gunky beverage. Hence the name CLEARLY KOMBUCHA. The good-for-you live cultures and bacteria are so small that they go through our coarse filtration system to arrive safely in your Clearly Kombucha bottle.

    20. Are probiotics added to Clearly Kombucha?

Clearly Kombucha naturally contains probiotics, and all the attributes of real, raw kombucha, from the authentic brewing process.

It’s a living, raw beverage, so the number of naturally occurring probiotics produced during fermentation may vary from bottle to bottle. Consistency is important to us, so we've added additional probiotic strains. Those are the ones listed on the label. And fear not, the probiotics we add survive the torturous acids of the stomach to make it to the small intestine where they unleash their amazing goodness. Not every kombucha brand can claim the same. And definitely those sodas and sports drinks you used to drink cannot.

    21. Does kombucha have to be refrigerated?

Yes. Since Kombucha is a living product, please keep it in the fridge to keep our little probiotic buddies in good health. We do not pasteurize Clearly Kombucha or add any preservatives of any kind.

    22. Why doesn’t Clearly Kombucha use brown bottles?

Clearly Kombucha is clear and uses clear bottles. We have nothing to hide! We let beautiful sunlight pour through our amazing kombucha! Brown bottles are not shown to make any significant impact on the live probiotics or other key component in the bottle.

    25. Will kombucha cure my _________?
